About Us

A LONG CHERISHED DREAM

The idea of keeping aside at least one day of the year to honour the noble GSD breed was a well thought out one that was brewing in the minds of true German Shepherd enthusiasts all over the world. Though each day of the year is a celebration when it comes to our pet (in our case, a GSD), a few of us hardcore breed fans started celebrating the 10th of May as the official GSD Day as a gesture of our love & commitment to this loyal companion.

THE BEGINNING

A day to honour & celebrate the noble German Shepherd Dog breed.

The year 2011 saw the dawn of our dream's fulfillment when we celebrated the first ever GSD Day. From its humble beginnings we've garnered strong support from canine enthusiasts all over the world through our Facebook page named 'The German Shepherd Day'. Though we're in the early stages of our growth, we've been able to change things for the better.

THE INSPIRATION & MOTTO

The day was founded by Ingrid Birch (an animal lover and GSD enthusiast) in memory of  her canine extraordinaire -Peter George de Corban who passed away at the age of 9, leaving a legacy of unconditional love & loyalty. Peter embodied the true spirit and GSD ideal that Captain Max Staphanitz (father of the GSD breed) wanted when he developed and standardized the breed in 1889. Despite having no formal training of any kind and in the hands of a first time GSD owner, he rose to the occasion when it was required of him.

Our Motto - ' All for One, One for All...........and all for the love of the GSD.'

This website is a labour of love by GSD enthusiasts & 'parents', who have supported us & rallied for the cause, through the good times & the bad, from the beginning. We dedicate it to all loving canines past & present.
